BOONE, N.C. — Buzz Peterson, who led Appalachian State University
men’s basketball to three Southern Conference regular-season
championships and an NCAA Tournament appearance from 1996-2000, has
returned to Appalachian to once again serve as the school’s men’s
basketball head coach.
Peterson led the Mountaineers to a 79-39 record, including a 47-12
mark in SoCon play, in his first four seasons at ASU. His .669
overall winning percentage and .797 winning percentage in conference
play are both tops among head coaches in program history (minimum
three seasons).

The Hartford Hall of Fame Showcase opens Lucas Oil Stadium to basketball before 17,007 fans in Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – More than 17,000 fans christened the new Lucas Oil Stadium to hoops as Gonzaga defeated Indiana and Ohio State shocked Notre Dame at The Hartford Hall of Fame Showcase. Josh Heytvelt tallied 17 points and six rebounds en route to game MVP honors as No. 5 Gonzaga held off the scrappy Indiana squad. In the second game, Evan Turner scored 28 points as Ohio State remained undefeated with a 67-62 win over No. 7 Notre Dame. The event benefits the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass.
